Very funny but you think it is scary but it comes out all fine.

Its about a girl who is spoilt, 10 year old Yasmin, her parents are always very chatty so she doesn’t get much time to talk.  She is a very scared kid and likes to be on her own and play checkers at OLD (an exciting club). One day she meets a hilarious Llama who turns out to be a magical llama!

But it turns out the llama is trying to help but bad at helping her and too energetic.

Yasmin is angry at Levi the llama because he does everything wrong but one day Levi teaches her talk.

Quotes

“I can see you are hard cookie to crack”

“If you are wondering what an octogeneraian is, it isn’t a machine that makes octopuses…”

“You got to be joking me…”

If you like Paddington we think you will like this story book and other books by Annabelle Sami because they are both funny and have a scary bit in the middle.

New words I learnt in the book

Urcuchillay – was a god worshiped by Incan herders, believed to be a multicolored male llama who watched over animals. It was said to be the incarnation of the constellation Lyra,[3] as Urcuchillay was the name given to both the constellation and the deity.

LOL – laugh out loud. Expression to show something is very funny.

Sociable – comfortable and pleasant in social situations; friendly

Octogenarians – people who are 80 years old or older.

I like this because in the end ******* READ IT YOURSELF I DON”T WANT TO SPOIL IT ********

I like this book because it is set somewhere which is hard to write about.

It’s a book that you have to keep reading until you finish it and you can’t put it down.

It was fun because some words are in large letters and you can feel how the people are talking. Which also makes you feel like you are there and the main character.

Talking about characters, my favourite is Jodie and Mazie. Jodie thinks she knows everything and is a bit silly. And Mazie is scared of everything and always faints, so she has special blanket. I think their school is strange because there’s always lots of exciting and scary things happen there. It would be cool if you could actually be there.

My favourite part was the end, but I don’t want to tell you what happens!

If you like Wigglesbottom Primary books you will love this book.

My suggestion to improve it is to add a few more pictures through the book, and perhaps more characters too.

Heroes – Incredible true stories of courageous animals

Author: David Long
Illustrated by: Kerry Hyndman

Read from 30th April 2025 to 10 May 2025

Review

I like this book because it has lots of true stories and I like animals, this book is allll about animals!

It’s amazing how these courageous animals have done inspiringly well in wars and scary battles.

My favourite story was about Mary of Exeter (The bird who wasn’t beaten) which is about a bird who hurt herself after being attacked by a hawk that was fully trained by the enemies to catch pigeons. But Mary didn’t die, in fact after she came back Charlie, her owner, also found two bullets in her neck. The operation to treat her required 22 stitches, and she battled through to survive. I love this dramatic story because it is nerve racking but she surprisingly gets there. This real story happened in 1942 during the Second World War.

Now you know not all heroes are human…

– David Long

Quotes

“All the men knew that this one bird represented their only hope of rescue.”

“There were at least 4 attackers for everyone defender…”

New words I learnt in the book

Shell – what they used to call bullets.

Reputation – lots of people know you for doing something

Contaminated – to make something dangerous, dirty or impure by adding something harmful or undesirable.

Debris – Scattered pieces of something broken or destroyed.
